FAQ — Nakita the Akita
Got Questions?
We’ve Got Answers
Everything parents and educators ask about the Nakita the Akita series
Is this too serious or heavy for kids?
Not at all. These are children’s books — warm, visual, and engaging first. The emotional themes are handled gently and age-appropriately. Kids 6–10 are already experiencing these feelings. Nakita gives those feelings a safe space, not a lecture.
Will my child actually relate to this?
If your child has ever felt left out, made fun of, scared to speak up, or like they didn’t fit in — yes. The protagonist Evren is 10, adventurous, and imperfect, which makes him easy to see yourself in.
Is this just another cute kids’ book?
It’s a story first — an adventure with real characters, a magical world, and a puppy named Nakita. But underneath is a framework designed to help children feel understood. Parents and educators use it as a conversation starter because it works.
What ages is this really for?
The series is written for ages 6–10, but parents consistently report reading it with children as young as 5 and as old as 12. The emotional themes resonate broadly — and many parents say they needed the reminder themselves.
Why 15 books?
Because childhood is complicated. Every book tackles a different emotional challenge that real children face today — from bullying and grief to screen addiction, perfectionism, and neurodivergence. Each one is a standalone story, so you can start wherever your child needs most right now.
Can teachers use these books in the classroom?
Absolutely. The series aligns beautifully with social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum. Each book addresses a specific emotional challenge and naturally opens discussion. Many educators use them as read-alouds, discussion starters, or independent reading for students who need extra emotional support.
Is this a good gift for a child going through something difficult?
Yes — and one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give. If a child is dealing with bullying, divorce, grief, anxiety, or feeling like they don’t belong, the right Nakita book can meet them exactly where they are.
When are the other books coming out?
